John T. Fales, Jr., D.D.S., M.S.
Dr. Fales earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Cellular Biology from the University of Kansas in 1978. He then attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry and obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1982. He completed a residency in pediatric dentistry in 1991 at the Children’s Mercy Hospital and the UMKC School of Dentistry in Kansas City, Missouri. Also in 1991, Dr. Fales earned a Master of Science in Oral Biology from UMKC School of Dentistry.
Dr. Fales has presented numerous lectures to pre-school and public school students, as well as to parents, teachers and community organizations. He has presented seminars to dental professionals regarding laser dentistry. Additionally, he is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Dentistry at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry.
He gives back to the community by volunteering with the Donated Dental Services, Johnson County Health Partnership, UMKC/Olathe Schools Miles of Smiles, Olathe Schools Community Care Program, Project Ready Smile, Pet Partners/Delta Society, Kiwanis International, Boy Scouts of America and the Kansas Dental Charitable Foundation.
His professional affiliations include the American Dental Association, the Kansas Dental Association, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Southwest Society of Pediatric Dentistry, Fifth District Dental Society, Chicago Dental Society, Kansas Association of Pediatric Dentistry, and the Kansas City Association of Pediatric Dentists. He is a past-president of the Fifth District Dental Society of Kansas and was named Dentist of the Year for 2006-2007. Dr. Fales is currently the President of the Kansas Association of Pediatric Dentists and serves as Secretary of the Kansas Dental Association. He is a member of the Advocacy Team for the American Academy of Pediataric Dentistry and is on the Boards of Directors for Oral Health Kansas and America's Dentists Care Foundation.. He was the recipient of the Susan Brockman Bell Humanitarian Award in 2009. Dr. Fales serves on the Oral Health Kansas Advisory Committee and the Oral Health Kansas Dental Champions Advisory Board and is a graduate of the Oral Health Kansas Dental Champions Class of 2010. and In the fall of 2011, Dr. Fales was honored as the Kansas Dentist Clinician of the year by Oral Health Kansas.
Dr. Fales and his wife have two children attending college. In his spare time, he enjoys flying, gardening, woodworking, water gardening, working on his cars, playing the drums and guitar and spending time with family and friends. He is a member of the Advent Lutheran Church, where he sings in the Chancel Choir.
